Directed Retreats
Do you have a yearning to know God in a deeper way? To ‘Rise-Up’ with the Easter hope that is available for us all? Some of our offerings are listed below, but we are not restricted by the dates, so if the suggested dates don’t suit, just let us know what you would like and one of our directors will be able to accompany you. We will use Skype, Zoom, Facetime or telephone or – whatever works best for you. If the suggested cost for the retreat is not within your means, please let your spiritual director know.

The First Spiritual Exercises – over 4 Weeks
You are invited to pray for an hour each day with material supplied by your spiritual director, and taken from a series of retreats ‘Inner Peace…’ devised by Fr Michael Hansen SJ.
You will engage once a week with your director for guidance. Dates for this retreat negotiable.

What St Ignatius called the ’19th Annotation retreat’ runs for about 30 weeks and is called the Retreat in Daily Life. During this retreat you commit to an hour of prayer each day with set material and then each week you engage in spiritual direction for an hour. In person or online.

Spiritual Exercises through the Arts with Online Group Direction
3, February 2021 – 15, September 2021
An Online Retreat via Zoom.
Have you heard about the Spiritual Exercises and wondered if they are for you? Using scripture, poetry and music this is a fresh and contemporary way to pray the Exercises over 30 weeks. If you have ever longed for a deeper relationship with the Holy One then th
e Exercises will be a wonderful forum for this growth. You will pray with set material each day for an hour, then once per week you will meet with your spiritual director, either within a small group or individually.
When: This retreat will commence with a group information hour on Wednesday 3rd February 2021 and conclude on 15th September 2021 (with a break during the week of 7-11th June). All sessions will be via Zoom, so whatever your location, this retreat is accessible for you.
Cost: $1000 which includes both group and individual spiritual direction. We will be using Grace Upon Grace by Marlene Marburg. This book guides us in savouring the Spiritual Exercises through the Arts. (Book is an additional $34).

Australian Ignatian Trail 2021
3 May 2021 – 12 May 2021 (long pilgrimage)
A pilgrimage along The Australian Ignatian Trail in the footsteps of the first Jesuits in Australia.
7-day walking pilgrimage (9 nights) Barossa and Clare Valley South Australia
Monday 3 May – Wednesday 12 May 2021
As a small group of pilgrims, you will walk part of the route in South Australia taken by the first Jesuits who arrived in 1848. The Trail brings a focus to the history of the first Jesuits in Australia at Sevenhill where the Jesuits established the first vineyard of the Clare Valley in 1851. It complements the Mary Mackillop-Woods Way (Portland Victoria to Penola SA) and other Australian pilgrimages/caminos.
This trail starts in Gawler with overnight accommodation in motels and caravan parks – stopping in Lyndoch, Tanunda, Kapunda, Tarlee, Riverton, Auburn and ending in Sevenhill. The route includes sections of the Heysen, Barossa Trail (formerly Jack Bobridge), Rattler and Riesling trails that link the Barossa and Clare Valleys.
This camino experience provides an opportunity to encounter Ignatian Spiritualty, discerning and listening to God’s presence in Nature. Step aside from everyday life, walk, reflect, experience nature day after day, time in silence, conversation and listening to God’s presence.
Seven consecutive days of walking covering 136km. A good degree of fitness is essential with average daily distances between 13km and 22km.
The group will be supported by two experienced leaders from JISA’s Being with God in Nature ministry: Ignatian Spiritual Director Geraldine Naismith and Jesuit priest Iain Radvan SJ.
Cost: $2725 ($341 per day) per person, including:
- 8 nights’ country accommodation
- 4 breakfasts, two dinners, one lunch
- Daily luggage transfers

4-day walking pilgrimage (6 nights) Clare Valley South Australia
Tuesday 4 May – Monday 10 May 2021
With a small group of pilgrims, you will walk part of the route in South Australia taken by the first Jesuits who arrived in 1848. This section of The Australian Ignatian Trail will begin at Kapunda. From there, the route proceeds along quiet country roads, the Rattler Trail and the Riesling Trail finishing at Sevenhill where the Jesuits established the first vineyard of Clare Valley in 1851.
This camino experience provides an opportunity to encounter Ignatian Spiritualty, discerning and listening to God’s presence in Nature. Step aside from everyday life, walk, reflect, experience nature day after day, time in silence, conversation and listening to God’s presence.
Four consecutive days of walking covers 76km. A moderate level of walking fitness and overall good health is essential with daily distances between 15km and 22km.
The group will be supported by two experienced leaders from JISA’s Being with God in Nature ministry: Jan FitzPatrick and Michael Bertie.
Cost: $1875 per person, including:
- 6 nights’ country accommodation (one-night twin share room)

Kathleen Duffy – Drawn to Follow the Road of Fire: Teilhard & Struggle
17, October 2021 – 22, October 2021
Sr Kathleen, a Professor of Physics, is one of the leading experts on Teilhard de Chardin. She is the editor of Teilhard Studies for the American Teilhard Association. Kathleen has published two significant books on Teilhard – Teilhard’s Mysticism: Seeing the Inner Face of Evolution (2014) and Teilhard’s Struggle: Embracing the Work of Evolution (2019).
